Israel shells crowded hospital in Gaza

The Al-Quds hospital in Gaza City was set ablaze as Israeli tanks hit the medical center. The attack on the hospital followed the Israeli army’s attack on the UN aid compound.

“We are a civilian hospital and we are under siege,” said Regis Garrigue, a doctor from France who was volunteering at the hospital, which was marked with Red Crescent flags.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said about 100 patients and medical staff were put at risk when the hospital was hit by Israeli tanks.

United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) spokesperson Christopher Gunness said the compound was burning with flames from white phosphorus shells.

More than 700 Palestinians had taken shelter in the UNRWA compound.
